2018 Summer Baseball Registration NOW OPEN until May 15th!

Apr. 29, 2018

Are you looking ahead and wondering how you can keep playing baseball into the summer months?
ALL-Star (Summer) Baseball may be the answer for you.

CMB offers an ALL-Star program following the completion of the Regular season. The summer baseball league runs through July and ends with the final championship weekend on August Long Weekend. Tournaments are held on the weekends, mostly around the Calgary area, with one or two weekends away from the City (Medicine Hat, Lethbridge etc.). Depending on interest, CMB can enter teams at AAA, AA & A levels so all players are encouraged to play summer ball. Players must play in 60% of the Regular season (spring) games to be eligible to play ALL-Star (summer) baseball.  This program is available for all players in the Minor Division and up.

The summer baseball season is a great experience and provides players an opportunity to play another level of baseball.  It is important to know there is a level of commitment required at this level which differs from the regular spring season.  Players can be on the diamond up to 4-5 days per week.  The summer league is more competitive and structured a bit differently than the Regular season (spring).  Unlike the Regular season, which focuses on giving every player the opportunity to play multiple positions, coaches will set the batting line-up and defensive positioning in a way they feel will give the team the best competitive advantage.  All players will be provided the opportunity to play six defensive outs and one at-bat per game (In Minors, All Players bat the whole game). Specific substitution rules determine how and when substitutions occur.

Player Expectations:

  • Practices are held 2-3 days per week, at the Coach’s discretion, from Late-June through the end of July.  Additional practices into August will be determined by team success, and tournament play.
  • Players will come to practices and games with a positive attitude and demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship at all times.
  • Parent volunteer commitments are required for pitch-count, score keeping, diamond set-up/tear down at home games etc.

Player Selection Process and Criteria:

Selection criteria are:  eligibility, ability, skill, and desire.  A player’s behavior throughout the entire spring-season is also considered, as well as positive attitude, sportsmanship, teamwork and regular participation. Parents will be asked to confirm player availability at the beginning of tryouts.  Although player availability is an important part of the selection process, it should not deter any player from considering the summer baseball program or attending the tryouts as there is opportunity for some flexibility by the team coaches.

Registration opens April 23rd and runs until May 15th, 2018. If required, evaluation dates are TBD.
