Cochrane Minor Ball is looking at starting up a competitive Bantam aged baseball program for players born in 2005 & 2006. This program will be in addition to the Little League Interlock program that we are currently operating.
Over the last few years CMB is seeing more and more players going to Calgary to play in more competitive programs. Last year, there were a significant number of players from Cochrane playing competitive AA baseball in Calgary when they could have been playing here in Cochrane. As players are starting to migrate through our Minor and Major programs, we are seeing more and more players who are looking for a more competitive program.
While CMB encourages all players that would like to try out for “AAA” teams to do so, we also recognize that some of these players will be looking for a “AA” team to play on if they are not successful in their quest for a “AAA” spot. We would like to offer these players a chance to play in Cochrane for the Crush and continue to build on the very successful baseball program that CMB has been developing over the last few seasons.
CMB is offering a program similar to the program that the Jr. Dinos, Cubs, Dawgs etc. are offering to its players. CMB is proposing to hire a third party independent coach with the necessary experience to continue to build our program for our players. In order for CMB to move forward with this program, we require some commitment from our local players that they will in fact come back to Cochrane if they are not successful in their quest for a “AAA” spot or that they are interested in playing in the competitive “AA” program in Cochrane.
Just a little bit of information for those that think their players need to play in Calgary to have a successful season or have better coaching or to get noticed. The team that won the Baseball Alberta “AA” championship was from a town of ~1200 people. That team then went on to win the AA Western Championships in 2019.
