Baseball Alberta Tryout Information


Player Selection to the Baseball Alberta teams will be held in FEBRUARY 2023.

Head Coaches will be responsible for the selection of the team using both objective and subjective evaluations.  It is the responsibility of the Head Coach to recruit and select other member of the baseball community to help with the athlete selection process. By using both objective and subjective evaluation tools, coaches will be able to select the best team for their age classification based on what skills, attributes and attitude of the available talent pool.  This flexible model ensures that Head Coaches are accountable to the CMB Board of Directors on their athlete selections.  

The program allows teams to enter into the AAA or AA programs which play teams across Alberta. The teams will play throughout all of Alberta from the beginning of April until August each season. There will need to be a strong commitment of 95% attendance for all practices and games from all players and coaches to ensure that the season runs smoothly and that players get the most out of the season. Players not selected for the AAA will be notified via email and moved to a AA team or coordinating Little League division. Fees will be determined based on coach qualifications and division.

The Baseball Alberta program will have the team(s) selected prior to the Little League evaluations.  This will provide athletes with the flexibility to register / try out for both this program and participate in the Little League program if need be.

Due to the demand for this type of program there will be players from out of Cochrane that will want to participate. In order to remain competitive and ensuring that as many Cochrane players get to continue their development, it is proposed that AA teams maintain an 80% (10 of 12) Cochrane player limit and AAA teams maintain a 75% (9 of 12) Cochrane player limit.

 

* 13U PLAYERS - $40 non refundable tryout fee due at time of first tryout (cash only no exceptions) 

* 15U PLAYERS - $50 non refundable tryout fee due at time of first try out (cash only no exceptions)

* 18U PLAYERS - $50 non refundable tryout fee due at time of first try out (cash only no exceptions)

 

The dates and times below are CONFIRMED and tryouts must be attended (may be be subject to change based on number of players registered to attend)

Feb 19 @ 3:30-7:30pm - 15U and 18U

Feb 20 @ 3:00-7:00pm - 15U and 18U

Feb 23 @ 7:00-9:00pm - 15U and 18U
