Information for players NEW to Cochrane Softball

Proof of Age

With the exception of our U11 and U13 House League, Cochrane Softball plays in a league organized by Calgary Minor Softball Association and they require proof of age when rosters are submitted.  If you are new to softball please upload a picture of proof of age to RAMP.

If you played softball last year, you do not have to resubmit as we have it on file.

For NEW players please upload it into your RAMP account (birth certificate, Alberta Health Care card, passport)

Get Ready for the Season

Please get ready for the season by ensuring that your daughter has a glove, CSA approved helmet with mask, infield mask, appropriate shoes (runners or cleats) and black ball pants.  Cochrane Minor Ball provides jerseys and hats for each player and socks are also provided (paid with fees).  Jerseys are returned but players keep the hats and socks.

Cochrane Minor Ball supplies each team with some bats and back catcher equipment.

All pitchers must wear a fielding mask - a league rule. We do have one per team in each bag but recommend for U13 and up that you have one for your daughter if she is a regular pitcher.
At the U11 level, everyone has the opportunity to pitch. For U11's, Cochrane Minor Ball will supply two fielding masks for the team to share. You may purchase your own if you like, but it is not necessary. This mask is the same as an infield mask.

New in 2024 - players in the infield (U11-U19) must wear a fielding mask.

Respect in Sport (RIS)

Calgary Minor Softball Association (of which Cochrane Softball is a member) has requirement of the Respect in Sport Program.  The Respect in Sport Program is an online certification program designed to protect our youth as well as enhance Calgary Minor Softball of providing a safe and fun environment for all our participants. It is Canada’s leading online bullying, abuse, harassment, and negligence prevention program for parents,  coaches, and community leaders.

RIS Certification is required by all coaches and managers listed on the player roster.  The course MUST be completed prior to March 25.  Any team that has coaches/managers that do not meet the requirements outlined will be deemed an ineligible team and therefore will not able to participate in league play for Calgary Minor Softball until all requirements are met.

RIS Certification is required  in all divisions, one parent of every registered player must have completed the Respect in Sport Parent Program and be completed no later than March 25.  Players failing to have a parent certified with the Respect in Sport certification will be ineligible to play until certification has been achieved.

If you have RIS from another sport, it is transferable.

Please sign up through the Calgary Minor Softball website.  Instructions are available on how to transfer certification from other sports.

When you have completed your RIS, or transferred it, please put the number in your RAMP account
