Skills Clinics



We are pleased to welcome back Dwayne Singer for a third year of CANPitch Clinics!  Last day to register is January 12.

Clinics are for girls in:

U10 - Born in 2008/2009
U12 - Born in 2006/2007
U14 - Born in 2004/2005
U16 - Born in 2002/2003
U19 - Born in 1999/2000/2001

...just register according to experience (as outlined below).

March 5, 19

6:00-7:00pm - first time taking a pitching clinic with Dwayne
7:00-8:00pm - experienced (have taken a clinic with Dwayne)
8:00-9:00pm - experienced (have taken a clinic with Dwayne)

Location - Elizabeth Barrett Elementary School - Gym


There will be a variety of ages in each time slot.

Each pitcher must bring a catcher (older sibling or a parent). If the catcher is under 18 they must have a catching mask (we have some we can provide if needed)

What is CANptich?

Softball Canada’s national pitching program developed a step by step program focuses on developing the correct technique.

CANpitch clinic will be a seven week program that will introduce and develop the skill of windmill pitching to children and youth. The clinic will teach the basic fundamentals starting at the release point (wrist snap) and working up to starting position (on the pitching mound).

Any youth player with or without pitching experience

Dwayne Singer Certified CANpitch Instructor. Dwayne has a lengthy and outstanding Fastball history that spans over 30+ years


General Skills Sessions

Dust off the bat and glove - these sessions will provide direction and help with the beginning of the season introduction.
Sessions will cover throwing, catching, batting, base running and more - all the basics that will help with technique and set up a great season.
The sessions will be facilitated by Jack Rosentreter and Katie Rosentreter along with other Cochrane Softball coaches
Jack is a former coach of the Manitoba Gators - the team his daughter Katie played on until she was 17.  Katie eventually moved on to Macon University in Georgia on a scholarship.  She also played on the Canadian National Team and was the alternate pitcher for the Canadian Olympic Team in their last Olympics.  Jack and Katie facilitated these sessions last year.
Dates:  4 Sundays - February 4, 11, 25 March 4
Time:  1:15 to 2:30
There will be two groups running at the same time (each half of the turf)
U10 (2008/2009) and U12 (2006/2007) will be grouped together
U14 (2004/2005), U16 (2002/2003) and U19 (1999/2000/2001) will be grouped together
Location:  Spray Lakes Recreation Centre - turf
Cost:  $50
Equipment needed:  ball glove, batting helmet, indoor shoes
