Coach Sean is from Calgary where he grew up playing a variety of sports, but it wasn’t until the age of 14 when he discovered his passion for baseball. In his last year of playing in the Calgary Big League, Sean represented Alberta at the Canadian Big League Championships. His baseball journey continued after high school with athletic scholarships in the US, making stops in Oregon, Texas and Colorado. During those years, Sean was fortunate to play for some excellent coaches and with several talented players, who would later go on to play in the MLB and the Olympics. During the winter breaks in college he was a coach with Baseball Alberta in their winter programs. After college Sean continued to play baseball in the Calgary FMBA League and would also coach his son’s T-Ball, Coach Pitch and Machine pitch teams.
For the past 13 years, Sean has also been a hockey coach with Bow River Hockey Association and Girls Hockey Calgary, coaching them to 2 City Championships, 3 Esso Minor Hockey Week Championships, and a Wickfest Championship.
Coach Sean's knowledge, love for the game, and competitive nature, mixed with his positive demeanor lends itself well to developing young players who are learning the intricacies of this game. He believes in teaching proper fundamentals and habits to be successful and build confidence. His focus on fostering player's love of the game and the drive to challenge and improve themselves and have fun! Sean’s experience as a player and as a coach allow him to help players not only work on the physical aspects of the game, but the mental aspects as well. As Yogi Berra said, "Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical”.
When Sean isn’t coaching or working he enjoys spending time with his family, their German Shepherd, 'Wrigley', staying active through CrossFit, golf, surfing, playing hockey and watching his lifelong favourite team the Chicago Cubs (2016 World Series Champions!).
