For players who want to continue to play ball after the Father’s day weekend, CMB offers a summer ball program for Minor and Major aged players. Depending on the number of registrants, try-outs maybe required to determine teams, but ideally all players would have a team to play on. The summer season runs from June 17th until the first weekend in August (August Long Weekend). All players are encouraged to consider summer baseball and if there is enough interest, multiple teams will be created.
The summer ball season is a competitive and fun experience and is structured differently than house league. Unlike the spring season where the focus is on giving every child an opportunity to play every position, coaches will set the batting line-up and place players in field positions they feel will give them the competitive advantage. The minimum requirement for playing time is different than the regular season with players required to play only 3 defensive outs and all players bat. CMB still expects coaches to give players ample opportunity to play, especially during round robin play. A strong commitment from both parents and players will be expected at all levels. CMB asks that players make an 90% commitment for attendance of practices and games and that they can play on the August long weekend.
Expectations of a Summer Ball Player:
* Practice held 2-3 days per week, at the coach's discretion, mid-June thru to and including August long weekend. Vacations should be avoided during this time.
* Games are played on weekends - including Sundays - and could be scheduled on back-to-back days.
* Games will be played out of town, including, but not limited to, Calgary, Medicine Hat and Lethbridge.
* Players will come to practices and games with a positive attitude and demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship at all times.
*There also may be weekend tournament opportunities, including the long weekend at the start of July and the long weekend in August.
Registration fees are $350 and help cover expenses associated with the season that include league fees, diamonds, equipment and clothing. Any out of town travel costs are the responsibility of the parents.
